Our problem in a nutshell:

And when the leader logs in, it's not for very long.......

But I'm not leaving. Our guild is finally looking up. Our main officer finally explained why he never really logs on for long (Family doesn't have the good internet connection that he has at college). New officer (not me), and just some real explanations. The fact that several among us (including the leader) are moderators in an extremely active forum explains a lot too.

Wow Shadowsting, that screen looks very familiar. Our leader is on mostly once or twice a week and his main role right now is doing the HoH runs to get a sigil, so can't fault him at all for that.

The rest of us (active) are usually on at the same times each day, and yes, we still have over half of the roster that have not played in some time. But I agree with what you said in that I do not want to leave my guild. And since I was promoted to an officer, it now falls in my lap to help make the changes we need to get better.

The only thing I need help figuring out is how to get a TS (or other) server for us to use. I really see the value of having voice chat, because it is VERY hard to type and fight at the same time.

agreed, im the leader of my guild and im on almost every day but there are only a couple of others who are on regularly, my officer just left me because people weren't active enough which means i just lost my most trusted member who was on the most. Situation has now got worse and i am losing the will to carry on. I dont have a hall yet and even after numerous tomb runs i havent got one. My guild does not have the attraction of bigger guilds therefore i dont get enough people to advance my guild.

I THANK ALL WHO SENT ME AN INVITE, PLEASE NO MORE I WAS NOT ASKING FOR AN INVITATION

My guild, the Lordknights, have been a guild since 1999 and have a decently large member base...but alas, with so many games on the market, and less time to play since most of arn't in college anymore, we only have around 9 members playing GW, out of 50+. I would love to add any other guild to our roster, as well as make other leaders/officers officers in our GW chapter...we have a website at www.lordknights.tk that has forums, and we have a ventrilo server that holds up to 50 slots that I admin. We have great experience with pvp and running things (in shadowbane, we had an empire that spanned 33+ cities with over 250 members under our wing for over a year) if anyone would be interested....my toon name in GW is Myric Justiciar to contact me, or you may post on our forums or message me here ( I am eastern time zone, but we have members from both coasts and some canadians/brits).

Default Knight of the Alliance

Just like Myrik_Justiciar posted, The Knights of the Alliance is a MMORPG Community that has been around for a long time. GW is our newest chapter and the hardest one so far to find good active members. WoW is by far our most popular chapter, we continue to get 5 to 6 people in a week.

If there are guilds who want to either join our community or ally with us please contact us. We will gladly add a private ally message section to our forums so we can communicate with each other. I am also looking for officers to fill out my Inner Council. So if your a dedicated player that likes to help out the guild, I need recruiting officers, Group and PvP Officers. Here is our guild info.

The Knights of the Alliance (KoA) is looking for mature players interested in joining a old and successful gaming community(Established 1997). We have active chapters in Ultima Online, World of Warcraft, and our own private UO emulator shard NUO. We are actively recruiting for our newest chapter in Guild Wars so if you are seeking a guild to join, please visit our website.

We are just a bunch of mature adults for the most part that enjoy PvE and PvP. We believe in helping each other out, so one of our main goals is to help members complete quests and level up. Even if we do missions 1000 times, the fun comes in from playing together. We also plan to be very competetive in the PvP scene, once we have a core group and have worked together.

We use Ventrilo Chat program which we host a private server.

Check out our guild website and click on the forums. If you like what were are about fill out a GW application and we will contact you ASAP.

GW name: Detrick Sky

Any guild that merges with us. I would like their leader to serve as an officer. We are also looking for friendly guilds to work with.

I know people are tied to a cape or a name in this game. It would be hard for me to walk away froma guild I have been in since 1999. Our capes are simple, but we are a mature adult guild that is about having fun in our gaming. Recruiting in GW is much more frustrating than in other games KoA has been in. Our reputation is known in many MMORPG's, so recruiting is easy. Not that way in GW's/ So feel free to contact me for more info. We have players in every timezone, but mostly CST and EST.

Sometimes though a small guild can be a good thing. Obviously it would be nice to have 8+ players for some true GvG but other than that it can be a nice community as well. My guild, Servants of the Son has 6 players at the moment and almost everyone is on daily for a little while. The difference for us though is that we have a very specific target audience which has helped with recruitment and finding dedicated players, and we would have 7 but one member left for unknown reasons *shrugs*. Like I said, sometimes a small guild can be good, just depends on the play style you are looking for too My guild is mostly PvE so we run a lot of missions/quests together.

<-----just look over there for my info. I'd be more than happy to group together with another small guild for some PvP/PvE! Just look me up in game and I'll be more than happy to get together.

I have started a Guild consolidation. My guild, Order of Glint, was just 5 people. I went to to other guilds I knew and invited their players. So, we started to grow. Now we are around 20... but still willing to accept new members.

My IGN is Hermione Granger, guild is OoG, so hit me up if you want to apply.

How did this turn into a recruitment thread? lol...I guess stealing members would be one way to make your guild grow. The truth is if someone gets disenfrachised with their guild they will leave. The game is still young so it may only be a matter of time before we see smaller guilds falling by the way side for the most part. Just my opinion though.

It's not a real recruitment thread untill we see that loved Ascalon spam!

... someone shoot me ><

Anyways, I like the idea of merging together - although I know how valued independence is. That's why I propose a coalition, a huge alliance. I'd love to get a bunch of friendly guilds to go kill stuff with (those damned W/Mo's are on that kill list..).

Check out our forums, I'm slowly building them up to a COMMUNITY forum. My dream is to get a big group of friendly people there to just have fun, imagine the funny, stupid stuff we could get in the jokes forum ...

http://dblow.co.uk/forum/ (I'm Ascension there as well)

Please contact me for an allaince idea, or just to talk. New friends of any sort are always welcome.

I know exactly how you guys feel! I actually just signed up for this board today with the express purpose of asking about how to get my guild moving in the right direction.
We've got 12 members. There's the leader, me, who's on every day for several hours, at least(weekends may be an exception), and one of my friends who's an officer. He's on about as much as I am. Another of my officers is on most of the time, but has suddenly become inactive...hope he's alright. Other than that, our only active members seem to be the type that just want to be left alone. Not really sure how that happened, since I recruited them all after getting to know each one, a little.
Point is, I want to get GvG competitive. We've got a hall, and if I can get enough members I'll get teamspeak too, but the whole problem is a lack of active members. It seems each time I pick up someone promising, they join, then are gone the next day when I log in.
Now, most of the people in my guild are friends. We all know each other from Neverwinter Nights, and have stuck together in a transition to Guild Wars. A lot of these people it seems are still addicted to the former game, and not enough to the latter, however.

Anyhow, I'll come down to the jist of it:
I sold my soul to get the guild hall, and now there's no one to even fight in it. At this point a merger, wether to someone elses guild, or them into mine, is looking damn fine. Don't care if I'm an officer, or a simple member; all I care is that I get to fight in GvG with the rest o' yah, and keep my friends with me. A little note though, I won't merge into a group that isn't friendly. The guild motto over here is that we only accept members you'd go to the bar with, so if you're not that sort of player/guild, I don't want to deal with you.
That said...if anyone wants to merge, PM me. I'd PM you guys that already mentioned it, but I'm not sure which of you all is still interested in it. If you want to find me in game, Klazen Dias is the character I'm mostly on as.

hi
My guild is about 24 members big, were setting up a pvp of dedicated members who log on 2 days of the week to do some pvp'ing. And were doing all kinds of different stuff, were going to kick some inactive members to make some more room as we dont want more than 35 people i reckon
We got some nice active officers for when im not around, and i log on nearly every day for a few hours
So if you think of joining us, please leave a message here, or pm me, or just hook up our site
www.the-heroics.tk
I 2 feel that smaller guilds realy need to merge with other guilds in order to be more competetive. Yesterday i almost merged with another clan of 17 members who got 8 active members so it would be easier for both to do some guildwars, but the leader didnt want to give up his cape or hall. Neither did I but it wasnt my idea to merge.

I have read this thread with much interest and thought I might add my input from a Guild Leader Standpoint.

Small guilds with nenbers who aren't on often are very annoying. It is frustrating to be in a guild with 5 whole people, who you never see in-game. But by you leaving your guild to join another more active guild, you are only contributing to the problem. This has been an age-old hurtle for Guild/Clan/Team Leaders in Video Games. As a leader you must be very careful and selective of your recruitment, and finding dedicated members to really start the snowball effect of growth is important.

It wouldn't be so difficult if all the members you recruited were paitent. If you are on all the time and rarely see any of your guildies, that's no reason to leave. If anything it is a reason to stay. The more people like yourself in a guild who want a bunch of guildies on, and get on constantly to see them on, the more guildies you will start to see. It's really a personal struggle to be paitent and wait for more people who are on often to join the guild.

Hell, if you are desparate enough to want more guildies on, do something about it. Talk to your guild leader about making you an officer so you can recruit for the guild and make his/her guild grow and really become a community. The guild leader would be so happy because of your enthusisasm. There is no better guild member in my book than one who is dedicated, trys anything in their power for the guild to prosper, and is excited and supportive of the Guild.

So basiclly the point I am trying to get across here is this: If you are sick of people not being active is your guild, leaving is the worst thing you can do. Tough it out for a little while and you will eventually get more active members. Either that or become an active recruiter for the guild and only recruit those with the qualities you covet.

To echo my fearless leaders post above (good job boss), it is up to me to make sure that I invite and seek out people to join our guild to help fill out the membership. And yes, not all of the people I invite are going to be happy or stick around, but such is life. However, usually one or two decided to make us their home and that works out great.

Hell, they didn't know me from Charr crap before they invited me in, and after much playing and thorough enjoyment they made me an Officer. So don???t be surprised if you see me shouting out recruitment slogans in the local town square

But to follow the original intention of this thread, I would love to pair up with some of you guys and do whatever. I am always looking for a good excuse to kill things; I know how much everyone loves to have a W/Mo by their side.

Very good point sir. To play devil's advocate, wouldn't it be better to reach out for support for that problem of inactivity. I look at it from a merge standpoint, where those inactive people can be absorbed into the whole and encouraged. Obviously some "leet" guild would boot them, but if you found a group of people who understand that you have work, kids, or something along those lines you can be inactive. In this case, that merging leader could get all the support he needed to make his guild active.

Under the right situation;

guild A + guild B = kick ass new guild C

If you find the right people, a merge becomes much more then just a combination of power - it becomes a meld of two styles into a greater whole which benefits from all perspectives.

I've lost track of what I'm thinking, better quit while I'm ahead!

Good luck to all the guilds out there, there are ALWAYS OPTIONS, OPPURTUNITES, AND A POSITIVE SIDE of your adventures!

Ah yes mergers, I forgot to address that

I see two problems with megers. One is the merger itself. One guild or the other has to give up their name/cape/hall and join the other guild or the guilds must form an entirly new guild, costing much in-game gold and losing any hall they currently hold. The descison on which guild shall live on is a delicate subject that more often than not leaves many hurt or angry members leaving BOTH guilds. That just snowballs the inactive members because you end up losing some!

The other problem is that you will recive more inactive members. Yes you may get some active members and can boast about a 50+ memberlist.....until someone notices 46 of them are inactive.

Don't get me wrong, mergers can turn out to be the best possible option, but in my expirence, more often than not they end up in disaster.

Our guild Amicus Renaissance (http://www.guildamicus.org/) is really in the same boat as some other cross game guilds. We are predominently WoW Alliance with 40+ people. We started back in FFXI, then spreaded across WoW Alliance, WoW Horde, City of Heroes and The Matrix Online. Then we started in GW, a whole bunch of people bought the game, played for a bit and stopped because there's no monthly fee committment. Now we are down to about 6 active members from the initial batch of 20-30 we got.

We had been through this before, our WoW Horde guild dwindled down to 4-5 people from its peak of 20. We basically let the remaining members decide what they want to do. They decided it's best to just let it go and join another guild so they can participate in the high level contents. For GW though, it's so new still so we are not ready to give up so we are going to try to recruit some quality members, and maybe have people from inactive/smaller guilds joining up with us.

An odd note though, we just got a dedicated recruiting officer in WoW Horde and immediately recruited several good members this week It really does wonder when you have a dedicated person trying to talk to a lot of people in game and try to recruit.

Im up for new members and mergers, especially mergers IF YOUR GUILD IS NEW....I dont want to merge with a guild that has 5 level 20 that are active, and 20 inactive players. We are a fresh new guild, mostly noobs. SEE BELOW

"Consort Of Simpatico Carnage"
http://www.guilduniverse.com/cosc/

We are about 13 members strong and growing fast each day (4 day old guild). 90% are active within the last 24hrs, most have just made it to post searing and some are still pre sear. So its a great time to join if you are starting a new character.

The only rules we have is that if you are going to do quests/missions is to add guild members to your party. That way we can get to know eachother and have a blast doing so. If you cant find anyone then hec, recruit. See our site on why over the next two weeks everyone is an officer.

So, if you are looking for a new guild, want to help out a new guild or have a small guild and want to merge into us, give us a shout.

I can be reached in game at "Selden Meliorate" (guild leader) or IM me.
Yahoo = marcmiles
MSN = [email protected]
AIM = boxcarwillimarc

I have lots of opportunities open for those that like to take on offline responsibilities, such as teamspeak, website posting, recruiting ect.

NOTE: We do not have a guild hall as right now our focus is PVE not PVP. IF you are new to the game, realize that a guild hall is only worth having if your guild is doing PVP, otherwise, join us and build up your character(s) with a great group people. Also, we dont have teamspeak, however there is interest in getting that set up.
